the sky is falling...

i am feeling more than a bit overwhelmed at how much stuff i have to do.  AND it's fashion week.

in other news, here's a couple of photos of the first project i did this semester.  i could use only fabric pieces that were all of one basic shape, albeit differing sizes, of my choosing: a circle.  my instructor liked mine so much she asked to keep it!

back to work!

bittersweet distractor...

on my first night back at duke, daniel asked me if i thought the now juniors had matured any since i graduated.  after observing you guys and talking with allison, i would say that you guys have indeed matured, as you seem to have embraced your responsibilities as juniors and are doing great things for the chapter.  however, i also saw that there is a lot of hurt in the class and that many of you have significant emotional wounds, which are compounded by the fact that more so than any other class, you guys try too hard to be perfect.  thus, i want to encourage you guys to relax, practice compassion, and keep it real with each other, because the truth is that you guys need each other.

the eye cannot say to the hand, "i don't need you!"  and the head cannot say to the feet, "i don't need you!"  on the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor.  and the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment.  but God has combined the members of the body and has given great honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.  if one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

in other news i am once again drooling over the sheer brilliance of reckoner by radiohead.  the video's not bad either:
